Hungarian Turan 2

Description

More Eastern Front stuff.
The Turan 2 was a Hungarian medium Tank derived from Czech design. It itself was a fairly decent tank, but it was not adequate to fight Soviet forces in 1943 and 1944. The most fun I had with this drawing was studying the firearms. We all know of your Kar98s, your Type-100s, your Thompsons, but looking at the Hungarian firearms like the Danuvia 43M was a breath of fresh air to WW2's arsenal. Also, about the tank itself, coming up with the sketch was pretty confusing. The photos that exist arent much to work with, and many model illustrations contradict eachother. But thats to be expected with a oddball tank, especially one that hasnt received much attention and only has 1 surviving example left in the world.(At the Kubinka Tank museum). Also the sources go back and forth, some say 234 were built while others say well over 400 were made. Some sources say the Turan 1 (and eventually turan 2) were in action from 1942, others say they didnt see use until 1944. If it was in use in 1942 it wouldn't had been outdated by then. Lastly is the tank that should have been, the Turan III! With increased armor and a long barrell gun! It would have basically been a panzer IV. This originally was the Turan variant I thought of drawing, but since it never saw any combat and there are no authentic camo schemes for it I decided to save it for later when I draw other tanks that never saw combat like the Australian Sentinel, P40 Bis and Canadian Ram.

I love Hungarian Tanks... Because their tanks look aesthetically beautiful. Although they were inadequate against the Soviet armies, they were among the tanks that formed the backbone of the Hungarian army.

And... Can you take a look at my drawings? I started working on the Hungarian army.
